FAQs of the Month — Sample Data
Each month we'll answer questions pertaining to a specific topic from our extensive NN4D FAQ catalog. View more questions and answers on the NN4D FAQ page. This month's topic is Sample Data:
- Question: How many sample data clips are available?
Answer: There are 18 cities/regions available from North and South America, Europe and Asia. In addition, five sample data cliips are available for NAVTEQ's indoor Destination Maps™ product. - Question: Are they free to download?
Answer: The maximum number of Traffic Message Channel (TMC) messages that can theoretically be sent out is approximately fifty per minute. A terminal is expected to “store” a minimum of 300 messages. These messages include a variety of short-term events (i.e., accidents) that may need to be stored for a short period (30 minutes), to longer lasting roadwork events (current Chicago situation—work on the Dan Ryan Expressway). - Question: Where can I find the sample data clips to download?
Answer: The sample data clips are available for download on our NN4D Sample Data page. - Question: What formats are the sample data clips in?
Answer: Sample data is currently offered in GDF 3.0, ArcView and MapInfo format. - Question: Do you offer sample data in RDF format?
Answer: Yes. You can find information on RDF sample data here.
